Focus on What’s Important

FOCUS was my one word for 2017. Focus = center of activity, attraction or attention; a state or condition permitting clear perception or understanding; adjustment for distinct vision. What or who am I to focus on you asked? Christ Jesus!

I ran across my notes for this yesterday. In January I had no idea what would be in store this year, but I was amazed at just how appropriate this word is for me still today.

I’m a world that’s so confusing and living a life that’s sometimes disappointing but at the same time full of adventure, in the midst of it all, I am to focus on JESUS, the author and perfector of my faith. He DOES not, SHALL not and WILL not change. He’s a sure bet. What are you focusing on today? What’s important to you?

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
