The disciples wanted to know which of them was the greatest. Jesus said that leaders with power did not often treat those under them well. Instead, they should not desire to be great but to be like the youngest or the servant. That is what true greatness is all about.
We should not desire to be the greatest or most powerful, instead, we should strive to learn, grow, and serve. We have to be open to new ideas and constructive criticism. We also need to learn to be humble. Jesus was our perfect role model because he was a servant of God foremost and then a leader. It is in this manner that we can best serve God and each other. Do you continually look for opportunities for growth and development in your life? Do you listen to constructive criticism when it’s offered? Do you offer to serve others when you can? These are things that make us great in the eyes of God!
Prayer for Today: Thank you Father for telling what true greatness is all about. It’s really about humility and servitude. Lord, I love you and I praise your name today. Amen.
